Over the years, Engi-Mat and its various technologies have been featured in multiple business and industry trade publications, including Business Week, Forbes, The American Ceramic Society Bulletin magazine, Advanced Coatings & Surface Technology, and High Tech Ceramic News.

For example, in August 2014, Engi-Mat’s nanocomposite wire-insulation technology was featured in an article published in Superconductor Science and Technology, and featured by NC State University News, the U.S. Department of Energy’s, and the National Science Foundation’s Science 360.

Engi-Mat has a long history of successfully developing and commercializing groundbreaking technology. These development efforts are done independently by Engi-Mat, in collaboration with a commercial customer, or with government funding. Although Engi-Mat’s commercial customers tend to prefer to maintain confidentiality, Engi-Mat’s recent SBIR/STTR/STTP (Small Business Innovative Research/Small Business Technology Transfer/SBIR Technology Transition Plan) development efforts include:

  • Reliable Manufacturing of Scandia-doped Tungsten Powders for Thermionic Cathodes

  • Composite Coatings for Low-Cost Motor Windings
    • Through the DOE’s Vehicle Technologies Office, supported by Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory
  • Fabrication of High-quality NaA Zeolite Membranes with a Novel Plate & Frame Configuration for Molecular-scale Mixture Separations
  • Bi2212 (Bi 2Sr 2CaCu 2O x) Powder Production with Wide Tmax Window for High Field Magnet Applications
